Procedure to Publish an Article


You can contribute to the advancement of the field of Communication by submitting a proposal or a draft for diffusion through the Review of Communication Research.

The procedures to present and publish a literature-insights and a state-of-the-literature article are the following:

 1.- Download the ARTICLE PROPOSAL FORM  .

2.- Fill it with your proposal.

3.- Post it to the editor (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

4.- The editor will send you an email with a decision regarding your proposal.

5.- If accepted, write the article ( AUTHOR GUIDELINES ).

6.- When finished, upload it on to the EDITORIAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.

7.- The paper starts a traditional peer-review and an innovative open-review process.

8.- As soon as the article is accepted, it receives a doi number and it published online as a "pre-published" manuscript. The international community will have access to your work, and can cite it.

9.- Your article will be formally published the following January.

 1.- Propose a topic using our standard ARTICLE PROPOSAL FORM, and send it to the editor (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Mark that you present the proposal for a state-of-the-literature article, or let the editor suggest you.

Remember that the topic must be relevant. To successfully demonstrate the relevance of the topic is a critic reason for acceptance of the proposal. Therefore, we would like you to demonstrate the editor or associate editor that there is abundance of recent literature published during the last years on the topic you want to review. The topic should be mentioned in the title, in the abstract or keywords of the literature you cite.

Alternatively, you can propose an old topic. Again, you should demonstrate the relevance of the topic. Then, you should explain the reasons to review the topic now and make it regain the attention of the academic community.

2.- If the editors accept your proposal, you write a draft and submit it to the journal in our Editorial Management System .

3.- After reception of the draft, the article will receive a suggested citation format. It will then start the open-review process. Depending on the editors’ decision, your manuscript might either go immediately into a parallel, standard peer-review; or you might need to gain the endorsement of your manuscript by two scholars in the open review first. In this case, you may invite any scholar to review your manuscript. Their name and positive evaluation of the manuscript will appear in the article. In this way, we want to give credits to all of those scholars who help our authors to publish an excellent paper. You can invite Ph.D. and master students to participate in this innovative process. Students cannot endorse the draft, but their comments can be awarded by adding their name in the paper as open-peer reviewers.

The access to the open-access draft is restricted to registered users to protect our authors’ copyright. The only requirement is to REGISTER on the website with an institutional email address.

4.- After the article has received the acceptance of at least two scholars, the editors will run a standard peer-review process. In some cases, the two processes can run simultaneously.

5.- As soon as the draft is accepted, the manuscript will receive a DOI number and will be officially published open access in the state-of-the-literature section of the journal.
